A little bit about Bali

Bali is the perfect place to be able to live like a king for less on vacation. Beach resorts can be found for a fraction of the price compared to places like the Caribbean or Polynesian islands, while beautiful air bnbs can go for only around $25/night. With typically expensive activities like jet skiing and parasailing being a lot more affordable, you can really go all out and splurge on things you can do without breaking the bank.

  • April to October is the best time to visit Bali, when there is little rain, low humidity, and lots of sun.
  • Bali is a good year-round destination. There is a wet season but it can still be a fine time to visit Bali.
  • If you want to save money the best months are May, June, and October.
  • Surfing is possible year-round but the best months are from April to early October.
  • The best months for a Bali honeymoon are June or September.

Typical Costs

Transportation – The easiest and cheapest way to get around is using Go-Jek and Go-car in Bali. Go-Jek is a scooter service where you hop on a scooter with someone and they’ll take you where you need to go for really cheap. Go-car is just the car version of that from the same company and app, pretty much works like Uber, that is slightly more expensive (but still only a dollar or 2 depending on how far you go). Theses were our favorite way to get around because you don’t have to negotiate the price with your driver unlike with some taxis.

Travel tip: Make sure you get a sim card after you land in Bali (you can get them at the airport for a few dollars) so you can use these apps on the go!

Food – There’s all sorts of good food in Bali, and the best part is that it’s all very affordable! You can have seafood on the beach with a candle lit table and live music for the price of what you’d pay at an Olive Garden. Since Bali is such a big tourist attraction, you can find pretty much anything you might want, there are lots of international options. You’ll find fried rice and skewer meats to be very common place here.

  • inexpensive local foods can be as low as $2-$4
  • middle range regular restaurants around $6-$10
  • nicer foods and restaurants can be $15 and up
